Updated:
Travel from Nukus to the present Aral Sea shoreline on a private 2-day 4×4 tour. The route combines the Savitsky Museum, Sudochye landscapes, Qorgansha Qala, sunset and sunrise at a remote Aral Sea yurt camp, then Muynak Ship Cemetery and the Aral Sea Museum. The tour starts and ends in Nukus, operates daily by advance booking and can be purchased online.
*Pick-up and drop-off: Nukus hotel or airport. A Khiva transfer or domestic flight can be arranged separately.
Is this the right Aral Sea route for you?
Choose this tour when you want to reach the present Aral Sea shoreline and spend one night there, rather than visit only Muynak. Expect long off-road sections, simple camp facilities, wide desert landscapes and an expedition-style pace.
For Muynak Ship Cemetery and the former seabed without the active shoreline, choose the Muynak day trip from Nukus. For a longer route that also includes Khiva and the ancient Khorezm fortresses, choose the 5-day Aral Sea, Khiva and Fortresses tour.

The first view of the water
After hours across the plateau, the road drops and the present Aral Sea appears below — the defining reveal of Day 1.
Sunset, stars and sunrise
A night beside the remote shore offers evening light, a dark sky and sunrise over the camp when weather permits.
Two sides of the Aral story
You see water at the present shoreline, then the stranded ships and museum in Muynak on the return journey.
From art to open desert
The Savitsky collection, Sudochye landscapes and Ustyurt roads give the short trip cultural and geographical depth.
