Tajikistan in a day from Samarkand
You return to the confirmed address in Samarkand while CAJ.UZ coordinates the vehicles and meeting points on both sides of the border.

Updated:
1 day · Samarkand → Jartepa / Sarazm → Shing Valley → Seven Lakes → Samarkand · private tour · Uzbek-side driver to the border · Tajik vehicle, driver and local guide · about 14–15 hours · from 155 USD per person
In one full day, this private tour takes you from Samarkand to the mountain scenery of Tajikistan’s Shing Valley. A driver on the Uzbek side takes you to Jartepa. You cross the border on foot without tour staff, then meet the local guide and driver after completing formalities on the Sarazm side.
The core route covers the first six lakes, from Mijgon to Marguzor. The upper lake of Hazorchashma is conditional: the team continues only when the road, weather and remaining border time make it sensible. This protects the quality and safety of the day instead of turning it into a race for the seventh stop.
You may request any preferred date and pay online. Payment records the order; the tour becomes final only after CAJ.UZ checks entry and re-entry requirements, the checkpoint and required services, then sends written confirmation with the meeting details.
Important for travel around 9 September 2026: Germany’s Federal Foreign Office advises that temporary restrictions on foreign nationals entering Tajikistan are expected, especially at land borders. Dates around this period are confirmed only after a current check of the Jartepa / Sarazm crossing. Read the current official advisory.
In brief: a private return trip from Samarkand to the Seven Lakes. The price is 350 USD for 1 guest, 190 USD per person for 2–3 guests and 155 USD per person for 4–5 guests. Transport and drivers in both countries, the local guide and border-handover coordination are included. A visa or eVisa when required, travel insurance and meals remain your responsibility unless explicitly included in the written confirmation.
The strongest impression is not one isolated viewpoint but the whole climb through Shing Valley, where water, cliffs, small settlements and the changing mountain road form one continuous journey.

Tight rocky basins around the lower lakes give way to the broader scale of Marguzor, the largest lake in the chain.
At the sixth lake, the long band of water between steep slopes reveals the full scale of the valley.
The guide and driver adjust the stops to road conditions, weather and the time needed to return to the border safely.

Send the citizenship and passport type of every traveller, the basis for re-entry into Uzbekistan, children’s ages and any walking limitations. This information is required before the trip can be confirmed.
Prices are per person and depend on the size of your private party.
A fully private trip with separate logistics in both countries. Total price for one traveller: 350 USD.
The trip remains private for your party; the published rate applies to each participant.
The rate applies to each traveller in a private party of four or five. Vehicle size is confirmed for the final group.
Prices are valid until 31 December 2026.
For more than 5 guests, transport and price are quoted separately. Choose your date and party size online.
Vehicle class and capacity are confirmed for your date. Access to the upper valley is decided from the actual road condition; no particular vehicle model is guaranteed.

CAJ.UZ organises the trip and checks the documents before confirmation, but entry decisions belong to the border authorities. Crossing times cannot be guaranteed.

The day has four clear stages. Meeting points are coordinated in advance; the order and duration of stops may change with the border crossing, road and weather.
Early hotel pick-up and transfer to the Uzbek side of the checkpoint.
Complete the border formalities without tour staff and meet the Tajikistan team at the agreed point.
Travel up the valley with photo stops and short walks at the first six lakes, ending at Marguzor.
Descend to Sarazm, cross the border again and meet the Uzbek driver for the hotel transfer.

Times are indicative because border formalities, road conditions, weather and the pace of the group can change the day. Pick-up time, driver contacts, guide language and meeting points are stated in the written confirmation.
| Stage | What happens | Timing and conditions |
|---|---|---|
| Early morning | Your driver collects you from the hotel or another agreed address in Samarkand. | The exact pick-up time is stated in the confirmation. |
| Drive to the border | Travel from Samarkand to Jartepa checkpoint with the Uzbek driver. | Duration depends on the pick-up address and road conditions. |
| Jartepa / Sarazm | Complete passport and customs control and the pedestrian section between the zones independently. | Queues and border-authority decisions cannot be predicted. |
| Meet in Tajikistan | The local guide and driver meet you after formalities on the Sarazm side. | Contacts and the meeting point are provided in the written confirmation. |
| Shing Valley | Follow the mountain road through Shing Valley, gradually climbing from the lower lakes towards Marguzor. | Pace depends on road conditions, weather and the length of stops. |
| Core lakes | Photo stops and short walks at Mijgon, Soya, Khushyor, Nofin, Khurdak and Marguzor. | The guide adjusts the order and length of stops to actual conditions. |
| Lunch break | When practical, stop at a guesthouse or arrange a picnic by prior agreement. | Meal arrangements are stated in the written confirmation. |
| Hazorchashma | Continue to the upper seventh lake only when the road is accessible and enough return time remains. | This stop is not guaranteed. |
| Return | Descend to Sarazm, complete border formalities, meet the Uzbek driver and travel back to Samarkand. | Allow about 14–15 hours overall; actual arrival may be later. |
Practical notes:
The cascade lies in the gorge of the Shing River on the western edge of the Fann Mountains. The lakes appear in the following order as the road climbs the valley.
Mijgon sits tightly between cliffs and changes colour with the light. Soya remains shaded by the surrounding slopes for much of the day, which explains its name.
Beyond the third lake, the valley begins to open. Long, narrow Nofin follows the road, with settlements and guesthouses along its shores.
Khurdak is the smallest lake in the system; Marguzor, immediately above it, is the largest and the defining panorama of the core route.
Numerous springs feed the upper lake. Its road is more demanding, so access is decided on the day according to weather, surface and remaining time.

The core plan covers Mijgon, Soya, Khushyor, Nofin, Khurdak and Marguzor. Hazorchashma lies higher in the valley and is visited only when the road, weather, daylight and return time allow the team to continue safely.
That depends on citizenship and passport type. Check current Tajikistan entry rules before ordering and make sure you can re-enter Uzbekistan after leaving. A used single-entry Uzbek visa may not be sufficient.
The Uzbek driver takes you to Jartepa. Each traveller completes passport and customs control and the pedestrian section between the control zones independently. A Tajik guide and driver meet you after Sarazm formalities; the process is reversed in the evening.
Allow approximately 14–15 hours from departure to return in Samarkand. This is a planning estimate, not a guaranteed arrival time: border queues, mountain-road conditions, weather and group pace all matter.
