- Safety and a timely return to the border take priority over the number of stops.
- Panjakent and the archaeological site of Sarazm are not sightseeing stops on this tour.
- Bring your original passport, closed walking shoes, water, sun protection and a warm layer.
- The route includes a border crossing on foot, uneven ground and repeated boarding; it may not suit travellers who need step-free access.
The lakes on the route
The cascade lies in the gorge of the Shing River on the western edge of the Fann Mountains. The lakes appear in the following order as the road climbs the valley.

Mijgon and Soya
Mijgon sits tightly between cliffs and changes colour with the light. Soya remains shaded by the surrounding slopes for much of the day, which explains its name.
Middle valley
Khushyor and Nofin
Beyond the third lake, the valley begins to open. Long, narrow Nofin follows the road, with settlements and guesthouses along its shores.

Khurdak is the smallest lake in the system; Marguzor, immediately above it, is the largest and the defining panorama of the core route.
