8-day Guaranteed Uzbekistan Tour is designed for a first visit to Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva. You travel on a fixed date, with English-speaking local guides leading the sightseeing in each city.
From US$1,200 per person in a double or twin room; single occupancy costs US$1,300 on standard and New Year departures. The Navruz departure, 20–27 March 2027, costs US$1,400 per person sharing a room; please confirm the terms by email. International flights cost extra.
Before you choose a date
- Route: Tashkent → Samarkand → Bukhara → Khiva → Tashkent. Duration: 8 days / 7 nights.
- Group: 2–8 travellers. English-speaking local guides lead the city sightseeing.
- Transport: two trains, a road journey from Bukhara to Khiva and the Urgench–Tashkent flight; station and airport transfers are included.
- Walking and pace: around 4–7 km on foot on active days. Day 5 is spent crossing the Kyzylkum Desert — more about the pace.
- Accommodation and meals: 7 nights, 7 breakfasts and 6 dinners. A special evening: a family-hosted plov cooking class in Bukhara.
- Included: guides, standard admission tickets, scheduled transport and drinking water. Not included: international flights, lunches, travel insurance and visa fees.
- Departure guarantee: the departure is confirmed after at least two places are paid in full, services secured and CAJ has confirmed it in writing. If the minimum is not reached, see the departure terms.
How the journey works
In Samarkand, we leave luggage in the vehicle; in Bukhara, at the hotel. Sightseeing begins after arrival, with check-in after the tour.
After each station or airport arrival, you are met as described in the voucher. There is no permanent escort between cities; the guiding arrangements and day-by-day meeting details are explained below.
The full Tashkent tour requires a morning flight arriving by 12:30. A change in the flight schedule changes the order and length of the visits.
What each city adds to the journey
Three historic centres show different sides of the route. In Bukhara, a family-hosted cooking class adds to the sightseeing; it is included on Day 3.
Samarkand
Registan Square
On Day 2, we visit the three-madrasa ensemble of Registan Square. The same day also includes Ulugh Beg Observatory, Shah-i-Zinda, Bibi-Khanym and Gur-e-Amir.
Bukhara
The historic centre over two days
On Day 3, we walk from the Samanid Mausoleum to the Ark and Poi-Kalon. The next day brings the surrounding sights, trading domes and Lyabi-Hauz.
Khiva
A full guided day inside Ichan Kala
Day 6 is devoted to the palaces, madrasas and mosques inside Ichan Kala. There is free time after the guided tour.
Special experience
Plov cooking class and dinner in Bukhara
On the evening of Day 3, we cook plov with a family in Bukhara and stay for dinner. The cooking class is included in the price.

How the departure is confirmed
- Before buying. Choose a departure and read the ordering steps in ‘Payment’.
- When the departure is confirmed. At least two places must be paid in full, the required hotels and tickets secured, and CAJ.UZ must confirm in writing.
- If the minimum group is not reached 30 days before departure. The sole fully paid traveller can choose the same tour privately for a total of US$1,600, with payments already made credited in full, or a full refund without deductions. The exact terms and time limits follow below.
Full terms if the minimum group is not reached
When this rule applies. If fewer than two places are fully paid 30 calendar days before departure and CAJ.UZ cannot confirm the departure for that reason, the sole fully paid participant receives a written offer.
- Private tour. The same published 8-day Tour 1 will operate privately for one traveller at a final price of US$1,600 with single occupancy and the same published inclusions and operating conditions. All tour payments already made are credited in full, so only the difference is payable. This option applies to every departure, including New Year and Navruz.
- Cancellation and full refund. The order is cancelled without penalty and 100% of the amount actually paid for the tour is returned to the original payer without deductions by CAJ.UZ or its suppliers.
- If the private option is not accepted in writing, cancellation and a full refund will apply.
- The refund is sent to the original payer using the original payment method; CAJ.UZ processes it within five business days.
- Bank processing time, exchange-rate differences and third-party charges are outside CAJ.UZ’s control.
- This special rule applies only when the minimum group is not reached and CAJ.UZ cannot confirm the departure for that reason. In the event of voluntary cancellation by the traveller, the general Booking Terms and Refund Policy apply.

The daily sequence is a guide. Your voucher lists the exact trains, flight and transfer times. Visits depend on schedules and opening arrangements; the important arrival windows are explained under ‘Practical details’. Lunches cost extra, with cafés chosen along the route. For departures before breakfast, CAJ requests a packed breakfast; it is provided only after hotel confirmation and noted in the voucher.

A single room is subject to availability and charged at the published single-room fare for the chosen departure.
The hotel name and room type are stated in the voucher. If the base hotel is unavailable, a comparable replacement will be agreed in advance.
Check-in and check-out: at the base hotel Manor in Tashkent, standard check-in is after 14:00 and check-out by 12:00, unless your voucher states otherwise. Times at the other hotels are specified in the voucher. Guaranteed early check-in, late check-out and extra nights cost extra.
Season, clothing and physical demands
Mornings and evenings can be cool. Bring closed shoes, a light jacket and layers.
Freezing temperatures, snow, wind and short daylight hours are possible. The order of outdoor sites may change; warm windproof clothing and shoes with non-slip soles are essential.
Spring weather is changeable, with possible sunshine, rain and cool evenings. Bring a light waterproof jacket and layers.
Special departures: For the 28 December departure, the dinner arrangements for 31 December and road services on 1 January are checked in advance. A New Year’s Eve gala dinner is not included unless it is specifically listed in the voucher. For the 20 March departure, the Navruz festive programme is likewise included only after written confirmation.

What to bring

- your passport and copies of documents for hotels, trains and the domestic flight.
What depends on the transport schedule
The exact train and domestic-flight numbers are stated in the final voucher. Three arrival windows are essential for operating the published sightseeing programme:
- Tashkent → Samarkand: train arrival by 10:30;
- Samarkand → Kogon: train arrival by 12:00;
- Urgench → Tashkent: flight arrival by 12:30.
If the confirmed schedule falls outside these windows, CAJ.UZ will advise the revised order of the programme in writing before tickets are issued.
Who accompanies the travellers
English-speaking local guides lead the sightseeing in Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva and Tashkent. A permanent escort is not included. You take the trains and domestic flight independently; on arrival, a driver and/or local guide meets you as stated in the voucher. The sightseeing language is stated in the written confirmation.
From choosing a departure to written confirmation
Choose a standard departure from the departure cards. Enter the travellers and room type, then check the total.
Pay for the tour on the website using Visa or Mastercard. If the date, room or total differs from the selected departure’s terms, email CAJ before paying.
After payment, CAJ receives the application and sends written confirmation of the purchased tour. The voucher lists hotels, tickets, transfers and meeting points. Departure confirmation terms.
Amount due: the selected tariff is payable in full; this tour’s order form does not offer part-payment.
Navruz, 20–27 March 2027: agree the price and room type by email. Proceed to payment only after the correct tariff has been confirmed.

Who organises the journey
CAJ.UZ / Central Asia Journeys organises the trip from Tashkent, coordinating hotels, transport, local guides and meetings along the route.

FAQ — questions before booking
Can a solo traveller join?
Yes. Single occupancy on standard and New Year departures costs US$1,300 per person, subject to room availability. The Navruz single-room tariff must be agreed before payment. If the minimum group is not reached, see the departure confirmation section.
Do I need a visa for Uzbekistan?
It depends on your nationality. Check the current requirements for your passport before buying and include your nationality in the order. Visa support is included only where needed and confirmed by CAJ in writing; visa fees cost extra.
Is there a child rate or triple accommodation?
No separate child fare or triple-room tariff is published here. If travelling with a child or needing a triple room, request availability and the final price before paying.
When are the trains, flight and baggage allowance confirmed?
After tickets are issued. The final voucher gives the train numbers, flight time and baggage allowance. Before confirmation, CAJ checks the schedules against the itinerary; the arrival windows are shown under ‘Practical details’.
What if the base hotel is unavailable?
CAJ agrees a comparable replacement in advance. The hotel name and room type are recorded in the voucher. See the accommodation terms.
What cancellation and refund terms apply?
If the minimum group is not reached, Tour 1’s special procedure applies. For voluntary cancellation, the general Booking Terms and Refund Policy apply.
